Days like today are some of my favorite. It’s gloomy, cold, and rainy. I’d love to curl up with a good book and read all day. I’d love to sit, listen to the rain and smell the damp air floating through my window. But seriously, who has time for that? Not me.
We are a very active family. I won’t bore you with details, but let’s just say my kids wake up early and one of the first things they ask is, “where are we going today?” Sometimes I don’t know who likes to run to Target more, the kids or myself. My husband has been working full-time and going to school full-time. Thankfully, it’s finals week for my husband’s college classes which will cut down on our activity level, and after that only one more semester of online classes!
Today is defiantly one of those days I’d rather stay home and work, snuggle with the kids. The best part of being an adult is that sometimes you don’t have choices. I love the life my husband and I have created. I’m proud to say that I’m a small business owner and mom. With both of those jobs come many daily tasks. I’ve been training for a half-marathon, and I honestly can say that after during a long run, my mind wonders and ticks through my to do list. It’s good to have that thinking time.
One thing that I’ve been thinking about during my runs is how “busy” needs to be managed and even redefined. If you find yourself busy, scurrying about and not getting anything done, you need to figure out how do things differently. How to be productive, not busy. To up my productivity, I use my Simplified Planner by Emily Ley to stay focused on what I need to do. I make lists on the bulleted pages of my daily tasks the night before, so I can wake up and know exactly what it is that I have to do for the day and not just busy. I have redefined busy in my life. Will you redefine yours?
If you realize you need to make a shift, and want to talk to me about how you can make that shift work, I’m interested in talking with you. I want to support you in your business and personal life, because to me, they are the same thing! So let’s grab a cup of coffee and chat. Set up a time with me!
