Today is Giving Tuesday. I love the idea of giving back and I know plenty of us give to charities. I want to highlight a few that I think are excellent organizations to get you in the spirit of love and giving. Of course, for some organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, time is a great gift too!
Habitat for Humanity – www.habitat.org
Habitat for Humanity International, generally referred to as Habitat for Humanity or simply Habitat, is an international, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization, which was founded in 1976.
I love this organization! I have spent over 50 hours working with them personally in four different states and I love their mission to provide homes for those in need as they partner with the home owners for success.
Mercy Ministries – www.mercyministries.com
Mercy Ministries is an international Christian organization with a four star charity navigators rating. It offers a six month residential program for young women aged between 13 and 28 who struggle with life controlling issues such as eating disorders, depression, self-harm, abuse issues, human trafficking, and drug and alcohol addictions. They offer assistance for those who have unwanted pregnancies, such as helping with adoption.
The program was started in 1983, by Nancy Alcorn. She still has a passion to reach hurting women. It’s a great program filled with counselors, group sessions, Jesus and love.
Midwest Food Bank – www.midwestfoodbank.org
They serve within the United States to provide food and make a difference for those in poverty. They also have a four star charity rating and 99% of the money given goes for their programs. They also provide disaster relief and provide international support.
I had only heard about this organization until I started digging into who they are and what they do. I love it! I want to make a difference in the United States when so many here are struggling. It is not just outside our borders that people are in need.
Will you join me in making a difference? Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday, will you give of your time or money and make a difference?
